The Equivalence Principle and Gravity

Galileo proved that gravity affects all objects equally, regardless of the composition, structure or mass of the objects. This is known as the equivalence principle. Einstein later predicted this equivalence would break down at certain extremes, such as postulated in quantum mechanics. With the recent discovery of a distant, three-star system containing a millisecond pulsar, scientists now have a laboratory for the study of pure gravity in extreme conditions.
