Jesus Fed the Hungry and Healed the Sick

One of the cities where it is illegal to feed the hungry in public is where I now live, St. Petersburg, Florida. How very sad.

Jesus, Christ, feed hungry, poor, Beatitudes, Luke, christianity

If you know me, then you know I don't recklessly or casually throw out Bible verses. But whatever we individually think about religion, I bet almost all of us will agree that the Beatitudes are some of the most beautiful, inspirational, encouraging and poetic words to be found in literature.

I think with the attitude being exhibited by so many today who have drug God's good name down into the slime of politics, we can all benefit from considering these words, attributed by Luke to the Son of Man, whom we simply call "Jesus."
Looking at his disciples, he said:

“Blessed are you who are poor,
for yours is the kingdom of God.
Blessed are you who hunger now,
    for you will be satisfied.
Blessed are you who weep now,
    for you will laugh.
Blessed are you when people hate you,
when they exclude you and insult you
and reject your name as evil,
because of the Son of Man.
[Luke 6:20-22 (New International Version)]
Can I get an Amen?
Note: no 'belief' required, "Amen" simply means "I agree."

Amen. Namaste. Peace be upon us all.
