You Can Help Fight Alzheimer's Disease

A man goes to the doctor. The doctor says, "I have bad news. You have Alzheimer's disease and you have cancer."

The man replies, "Well, at least I don't have Alzheimer's."

alz, Alzheimer, aging, health care,

Pretty funny joke about a horribly serious disease. Even dark humor can motivate us, though.

The Alzheimer Association is the most effective non-profit in addressing this disease, providing funds not only for research toward a cure, but a large amount of the money they raise each year through their sponsored walks goes toward direct care of patients, especially toward home-based care, and supplemental assistance to caregivers.

In years past, I have been blessed with the opportunity and health needed to be a participant in these walks. My life is at a turning point this year, though, with too many obligations already, I am unable to directly participate.

So, let me at least use this forum to encourage you to do so, and to donate to your local Alzheimer Association. The vast majority of those donations are spent in your own local community for patient care. I know this from first hand involvement.
