Congress Is Killing The Postal Service

USPS, Congress, politics,

The USPS announced today they will suspend Saturday delivery of first-class mail. Packages will still be delivered on Saturday.

In case you're not aware, the Republicans in Congress have worked hard the past few years to destroy the U.S. Postal Service. That's because they receive huge campaign contributions from FedEx, UPS and the other commercial delivery services. The GOP Congress will not be happy until you have to pay $10 to UPS to deliver a letter, instead of less than half a buck to USPS.

This is how Congress has bankrupted the USPS: they made it law that USPS has to PREPAY their employees retirement and health insurance funds for the next 75 YEARS! No where in the world does any business operate under such a ridiculous burden. Without this obligation, USPS would be making a profit of more than $2 billion per year. Instead, it will be broke in March.

We The People are guaranteed mail service by the United States Postal System by the U.S. Constitution. These fools in Congress love to accuse liberals of ignoring the Constitution, but there they are unabashedly destroying one of its rights that we depend on every single day.

Please call or write your representatives in Congress and tell them that you expect them to fulfill their Constitutional responsibility to preserve the USPS, not destroy it to favor FedEx and UPS.
