Austin, TX Juneteenth Celebration, "The Buffalo Soldiers"

The Austin Juneteenth celebration is taking place today at Wooldridge Square Park, 900 Guadalupe St. in downtown Austin. It's early, there's still plenty of food and fun to come, so y'all come on out and celebrate!

Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Juneteenth commemorates African American freedom and emphasizes education and achievement. (Source: Juneteenth World-Wide Celebration Website)

One of the interesting displays at the celebration remembers the vital contributions of African-American soldiers, "The Buffalo Soldiers."
